Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan condemned the ongoing “atrocities” in Gaza on Sunday, criticizing what he called international “indifference and double standards” toward the plight of Palestinians. Speaking ahead of the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur, he linked the violence to a breakdown in respect for international law and urged the regional bloc not to remain silent.
His remarks follow intensified Israeli military action in Gaza and renewed international criticism, especially over restrictions on humanitarian aid.
Malaysia, which chairs ASEAN this year and has no diplomatic ties with Israel, has long supported the Palestinian cause. Since the conflict began in October 2023, it has provided over $10 million in aid to Gaza.
