Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te was criticized by China’s Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Chen Binhua, who called him a “troublemaker” for his stance supporting Taiwan independence and for his recent visit to Eswatini.
Chen said Lai’s trip was arranged under difficult diplomatic conditions and accused him of political theatrics, while reiterating China’s position on the one-China principle and its claim that Taiwan is part of China. He also stressed that China’s goal of national reunification is inevitable.
