Macao has released its Third Five-Year Plan for 2026 to 2030, focusing on strengthening the economy and supporting Macao’s role in China’s overall development. Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said the plan will focus on four areas: diversifying the economy, deepening cooperation with Hengqin, improving the city, and strengthening connections with mainland China and the rest of the world.
The plan will also use government funds to support industries such as digital technology, integrated circuits and biomedicine. Macao also wants to make better use of its four state-key laboratories by connecting scientific research with businesses. New areas such as low-altitude aviation and smart driving will also be explored, while customs procedures could be made faster through electronic declarations and risk-based checks.
