For the first time, lunar samples from China’s Chang’e-5 and Chang’e-6 missions—collected from both the near and far sides of the moon—were publicly displayed at the United Nations Office in Vienna on June 25 during the 68th session of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).
The exhibition, co-hosted by China’s National Space Administration and its Permanent Mission to the UN, showcased China’s 20 years of lunar exploration achievements. China’s ambassador to the UN in Vienna emphasized the country’s commitment to expanding international cooperation in space.
UN Outer Space Affairs Director Aarti Holla-Maini congratulated China on its space successes and expressed hope for China’s continued leadership in global space governance. Many international delegates welcomed the opportunity for cooperation in future China-led space projects.
