China and the United States will hold the fourth round of major trade talks in Spain from September 14 to 17, with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng leading the Chinese delegation. The two largest economies have already held three rounds of talks this year in Geneva, London, and Stockholm, focusing on tariff adjustments, trade consultation mechanisms, and extending pauses on U.S. tariffs and China’s countermeasures.
While a comprehensive trade deal has yet to be reached, the talks have allowed both sides to better understand each other’s economic concerns and reduce misunderstandings. Experts say the upcoming discussions in Spain signal that, despite unresolved issues, the routine communication mechanism is helping steer bilateral relations toward steadier, more predictable economic and trade cooperation.
