Kuwait and China signed an EPC contract for the first phase of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project on Boubyan Island. The ceremony was attended by Kuwaiti and Chinese officials, including Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and representatives from the Chinese Embassy.
The port is seen as a symbol of strong Kuwait-China ties and a milestone for Belt and Road cooperation. Chinese firm CCCC will apply its technology and expertise to the project, marking its first Middle East port built partly to Chinese standards. The port is a key part of Kuwait’s Vision 2035, aimed at developing a regional trade hub and diversifying the economy.
