Kuwait and Bahrain said their air defense systems intercepted Iranian drones on Thursday, as regional tensions continued to escalate following recent US strikes on Iran.
Kuwait said explosions heard across parts of the country were caused by the interceptions and blamed Iran for the attacks, warning that continued strikes against Gulf states would threaten regional security. Bahrain also confirmed it had intercepted and destroyed aerial attacks, with its military remaining on high alert.
The incidents followed Iran’s retaliatory strikes on US military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan after fresh US attacks on targets in southern Iran. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed it hit military infrastructure, including radar systems, command centers and other facilities linked to US forces.
