Doctors in Kenya launched a nationwide strike on Thursday, citing the government’s failure to address their concerns, including demands for promotions and the placement of over 4,000 medical interns. The strike has caused a halt in medical services across the country, leaving patients unattended. Affected areas include Nakuru, Kwale, Kilifi, Migori, and Mombasa counties. Despite a court order on Wednesday to halt the strike and encourage dialogue, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union proceeded with the industrial action after unsuccessful negotiations with the government. Patients expressed frustration over the lack of medical attention, urging the government to swiftly resolve the crisis.
