Dozens of potential jurors were dismissed on the first day of Donald Trump’s trial in New York City over hush money payments to an adult entertainment star. The judge instructed nearly 100 prospective jurors to set aside biases, including political views. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged Trump with falsifying records to cover up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump, denying any relationship with Daniels, must attend the trial, expected to last through May. Jury selection from a heavily Democratic pool could take days. A guilty verdict wouldn’t prevent Trump from office, but polls show potential voter backlash if convicted.
