Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is reportedly planning to resign by August, following a major defeat for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the recent House of Councillors election, according to Mainichi newspaper. Although he initially intended to stay in office, internal pressure for his resignation has grown. Ishiba is set to meet with senior LDP members to discuss his future. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a new trade deal with Japan that includes a 15% tariff on U.S. imports from Japan. Ishiba declined to comment on the deal until he reviews it fully.
