US President Donald Trump said his administration is in talks with seven countries to send warships to secure the Strait of Hormuz, vital for 20% of global oil, but most European nations have resisted.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized diplomacy, while Germany, the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Poland ruled out military involvement. Greece, Norway, the Netherlands, and Denmark also stressed peaceful, multilateral solutions.
European leaders cited the need to avoid escalation, protect trade, and focus on diplomacy rather than joining a US-led military effort.
