India and the United States successfully launched a joint Earth observation satellite named “NISAR” on Wednesday from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, southern India. The launch was carried out using the GSLV-F16 rocket.
Developed by ISRO and NASA, NISAR is equipped with advanced L- and S-band microwave radar systems. It uses a special SweepSAR technique that allows it to capture high-resolution images over a wide area. The satellite can collect fully polarimetric and interferometric data, making it valuable for monitoring Earth’s surface and environmental changes.
