Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with Iran reportedly the main focus of their discussions, according to Israel’s state-owned Kan TV News. Netanyahu traveled to the UAE on a private plane and spent the day there, although neither his office nor the UAE Foreign Ministry immediately commented on the visit.
The meeting comes as the UAE has strengthened its ties with the United States and Israel following attacks during the Iran war. The UAE established diplomatic relations with Israel under the 2020 Abraham Accords. Earlier this year, the UAE had denied reports of a meeting between Sheikh Mohamed and Netanyahu after the Israeli prime minister’s office said Netanyahu had secretly visited the country.
