Israel’s decision to block humanitarian aid to Gaza since Sunday has drawn strong criticism from Palestinian factions, regional nations, and international organizations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the move aims to pressure Hamas into extending the first phase of a ceasefire and hostage release deal. Hamas condemned the decision as a “war crime” and refused to renegotiate the agreement’s terms.
Palestinian groups, including the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Islamic Jihad, labeled the blockade a violation of the ceasefire and an act of “starvation warfare.” Egypt, Jordan, and the UN also called for an immediate resumption of aid.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with residents struggling to find food, especially during Ramadan. While tensions escalate, an Israeli delegation is set to visit Cairo to discuss ways to maintain the ceasefire. The second phase of the agreement, which includes further hostage negotiations and an Israeli military withdrawal, remains stalled.
