An Israeli armored officer was killed Thursday in southern Lebanon after a drone launched by Hezbollah struck an Israeli tank, according to the Israel Defense Forces. The incident came as fighting continued despite a ceasefire agreement reached a day earlier between Israel and Lebanon.
Lebanese state media reported that Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley killed at least nine people and injured dozens more. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps called on Israel to halt its military operations in Lebanon and withdraw from Lebanese territory.
Separately, Antonio Guterres condemned the killing of a UN peacekeeper in southern Lebanon after a mortar strike hit a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon position near Marjayoun. The UN said attacks on peacekeepers could constitute violations of international law and potentially amount to war crimes.
