Israel launched fresh airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahieh district, targeting weapons stored under civilian buildings, including missiles from Iran. The strikes followed earlier attacks on Hezbollah’s headquarters, which killed six and injured 91, with speculation that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah may have been targeted.
The strikes were approved by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who warned at the UN of threats from Iran and ruled out an immediate truce. In retaliation, Hezbollah attacked the Israeli city of Safed, prompting further Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon.
Iran condemned the strikes as war crimes, while Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported nearly 700 deaths from the intensified attacks, with over 200,000 displaced since Hezbollah began firing rockets into Israel last October.
