Israel announced on Sunday a daily 10-hour halt in military operations in specific areas of Gaza, along with the opening of new aid corridors. This decision comes as Jordan and the UAE conducted their first aid airdrops in months into the besieged territory.
The pauses will occur daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the humanitarian zone of Al-Mawasi, central Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City. Secure routes for aid convoys will also operate for extended hours to facilitate deliveries. The UN World Food Programme urged swift Israeli approvals to maximize these humanitarian windows.
The announcement follows the collapse of indirect ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas. Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry reported six new deaths from malnutrition, bringing the total hunger-related deaths since the 2023 conflict to 133, including 87 children. Aid organizations continue to warn of widespread hunger among Gaza’s 2.2 million residents.
In a separate development, Israel also announced an upcoming UAE-funded project to build a pipeline delivering water from an Egyptian desalination plant to roughly 600,000 Gazans.
