Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani on Monday declared that Tehran will not engage in negotiations with the United States. Larijani’s remarks, posted on X, came in response to reports suggesting he had sought to return to talks via Omani intermediaries. The comments follow the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran and other Iranian cities on Saturday, which killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with senior military officials, civilians, and some of the leader’s family members.
Larijani criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for destabilizing the region and endangering American forces, saying his actions prioritized Israeli interests over U.S. soldiers’ safety. He emphasized that Iran is now defending itself and that its armed forces did not initiate the conflict. In retaliation, Iran has launched multiple missile and drone strikes against Israeli targets and U.S. bases across the region. The U.S. Central Command reported that three American service members were killed and five others seriously wounded during the operations.
