Iran’s president issues order to suspend cooperation with IAEA

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has signed a law suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The law, passed by parliament and approved by the Constitutional Council, demands that Iran’s sovereignty and nuclear safety be guaranteed before any further cooperation. Future IAEA inspections will now need approval from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

This follows recent attacks by Israel and the United States on Iranian nuclear and military sites, including the Fordow facility, which Iran says was heavily damaged. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes. A ceasefire between Iran and Israel was reached on June 24 after nearly two weeks of conflict.

The IAEA is waiting for official updates from Iran, while the US has criticized Iran’s decision, calling it a missed chance for peace. Iranian military leaders have warned of stronger retaliation if attacked again.
