Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed early Saturday in U.S.-Israeli strikes while meeting senior aides, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency and reports citing U.S. and Israeli sources. Those reportedly killed also include former National Security Council secretary Ali Shamkhani and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief Mohammad Pakpour.
Sources said Khamenei was at a secure location when the strikes occurred and that his body was later recovered. U.S. President Donald Trump said on social media that intelligence agencies had tracked Khamenei’s movements before the attack.
