Simultaneously, the Trump administration is evaluating an Iranian proposal to end the current conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for delaying nuclear discussions. As oil prices rise due to the closure, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued an urgent appeal to all parties to restore unrestricted passage through the strait to protect the global economy.
