Iran and the United States remain far apart on how to end their war, but both sides are continuing diplomatic efforts. The Strait of Hormuz remains a major point of disagreement. Iran wants greater control over the waterway, while the United States insists it must remain open to international shipping. U.S. officials said reaching an agreement would require further negotiations, while also keeping military options available. Meanwhile, tensions have continued to affect shipping and energy supplies across the region, with a cargo ship reportedly attacked in the Strait of Hormuz and traffic through the nearby Bab al-Mandab Strait fluctuating.
