Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sunday that indirect talks with the U.S. in Oman to revive the 2015 nuclear deal have become more “serious and frank,” with discussions now focusing on specific proposals.
However, President Masoud Pezeshkian rejected U.S. demands to dismantle Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it “unacceptable” and reaffirming Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear activities.
The talks, held in Muscat and mediated by Oman, aim to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which the U.S. exited in 2018. Despite some progress, both sides acknowledged the complexity of the negotiations and agreed to continue.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s nuclear work is for civilian purposes, citing healthcare and agriculture needs, and stressed Iran’s commitment to peace.
