Iranian officials confirmed Saturday that oil operations at Kharg Island remain stable and unaffected by regional tensions. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, reported that exports are proceeding smoothly and daily life on the island continues as normal following a recent oversight visit.
The committee used the visit to issue a stern warning against potential interference with the critical infrastructure. Rezaei emphasized that any military action targeting the island would trigger a “firm response” from Iran. As the nation’s primary energy hub, Kharg Island is responsible for approximately 90% of Iran’s total crude oil exports, making its security a top priority for the country’s economic stability.
