Following indirect negotiations in Oman on February 6, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a press briefing on February 8 to outline Tehran’s stance on nuclear talks and regional tensions.
Araghchi stressed that Iran would not accept U.S. demands for “zero uranium enrichment” and called its missile program and regional influence non-negotiable. He described the initial talks as a “test of trust,” noting U.S. sanctions and military actions cast doubt on Washington’s sincerity. Progress, he said, depends on lifting sanctions.
Analysts cautioned that while the talks offer diplomatic hope, risks of military conflict and external interference—particularly from Israel—remain. Iran plans to approach future negotiations cautiously to safeguard core interests.
