At least two people were injured in central Israel on Wednesday during joint missile and rocket attacks launched by Iran and Hezbollah, as Israeli forces responded with airstrikes across southern Lebanon. According to Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service, one man was injured by shrapnel and another by blast effects, both in light condition and treated on site. The attacks triggered nationwide sirens, with loud explosions from interceptions shaking buildings in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Israeli officials confirmed that the barrages included missiles from Iran and rockets from Lebanon, all either intercepted or landing in uninhabited areas.
The assaults occurred after the Israeli military warned residents in southern Lebanon to evacuate north of the Litani River amid the third day of full-scale fighting. Following the attacks, Israel carried out a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling across southern Lebanon, accompanied by ground incursions near the border, as reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency. Hezbollah also claimed a direct hit on an Israeli armored personnel carrier in the southern Lebanese village of Houla. The escalation follows Monday’s Hezbollah rocket launches toward Israel—the first since a November 2024 ceasefire—and subsequent Israeli airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and other areas, continuing despite the ceasefire, which Israel says targets ongoing Hezbollah threats.
