Iran calls on UN to recognize U.S., Israel as aggressors

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi called on the UN Security Council to officially recognize Israel and the United States as aggressors against Iran. In a letter to the UN Secretary-General and UNSC President, he accused Israel of targeting civilians and infrastructure, violating international law and the UN Charter. Araghchi also condemned attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities by both Israel and the U.S., calling them serious breaches of treaties and IAEA rules. He urged the UNSC to hold the aggressors accountable and prevent future violations. The statements come after recent escalations, including Israeli airstrikes on Iran, U.S. bombings of Iranian nuclear sites, retaliatory strikes, and a ceasefire reached after 12 days of fighting.
