Tensions between Iran and the United States remain high as both sides reported carrying out military strikes and accused each other of aggression while negotiations to end the conflict continue.
The US military said it struck Iranian air defense systems and drones that it claimed threatened ships in the region. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it targeted a US-used air base, while Kuwait reported missile and drone attacks and activated its air defenses.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu ordered new Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Beirut and expanded military operations in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah said it carried out attacks against Israeli targets in response.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said negotiations with Washington are progressing slowly because of what it called changing US demands and continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon. Tehran also insisted that any broader agreement must include a ceasefire in Lebanon and reiterated its demand for the release of frozen Iranian funds.
The ongoing fighting and diplomatic disagreements have complicated efforts to reach a deal and reduce tensions across the region.
