An independent investigation has begun into a deadly residential fire at Wang Fuk Court, with its first public hearing held on Thursday. The committee is reviewing evidence from witnesses, documents, and testimonies to understand what caused the fire and why it spread so quickly. A total of 38 parties, including government departments and residents, are taking part in the hearings. The probe was set up by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee and is led by Justice David Lok, with a final report expected within nine months. Residents hope the investigation will reveal the cause of the tragedy and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
