Huge crowds expected at Iran late leader’s funeral procession

Massive crowds gathered in Tehran on Monday for the funeral procession of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which began early in the morning and is expected to last several hours across the city. His body was first displayed at a religious complex before being moved through major streets, with millions of mourners reportedly taking part.

The funeral comes amid ongoing regional tensions and a fragile ceasefire linked to earlier Iran–US talks. Authorities have also highlighted continued concerns over security and maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, while broader Middle East conflicts remain paused under the temporary agreement.
