Hamas official says no agreement with Israel if war continues in Gaz

Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, stated they won’t agree to any deal with Israel regarding Gaza without a cessation of hostilities. They are reviewing Israel’s response received through mediators and will respond after a delegation visit to Cairo. Israel’s official response was described as a crucial moment in negotiations for a potential hostage-for-prisoner swap. Hamas reiterated its demands for a permanent ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, return of displaced persons, and aid for reconstruction. Egyptian mediation efforts continue amidst discussions on a potential military operation in Rafah and detainee releases. Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. seek a deal for a prisoner exchange and a second ceasefire, following the recent conflict. Israel estimates 134 Israelis are held hostage in Gaza, while Hamas reports casualties from Israeli airstrikes. The conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have reportedly worsened due to recent conflicts.
