Global institutions turn bullish on China’s growth outlook

Global institutions are becoming more optimistic about China’s economic outlook despite ongoing global challenges, including trade tensions and energy price uncertainty.

The World Bank maintained its 2026 China GDP growth forecast at 4.4%, highlighting strong performance in high-tech industries, AI-related equipment, new energy products and electronics. Fitch Ratings raised its forecast to 4.6%, citing stronger-than-expected growth in sectors such as electric vehicles, industrial robots and foreign trade.

Morgan Stanley gave the most positive outlook so far, upgrading China’s 2026 growth forecast to 4.8%, driven by global demand for AI technology, energy storage, solar products and electric vehicles. Investors are now watching for the International Monetary Fund’s latest economic forecast, which could further influence views on China’s growth prospects
