The Georgian government has suspended negotiations on joining the European Union and rejected EU budgetary grants until 2028, aiming to prepare for EU accession talks by 2030, according to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. He criticized the EU for using membership talks as “blackmail” and stated Georgia would fulfill its EU commitments without financial aid. This follows an EU resolution condemning Georgia’s recent elections as undemocratic and calling for a re-run under international supervision.
