A moderate solar flare erupted from the Sun on May 31, potentially triggering geomagnetic storms and vivid auroras over the next three days, according to China’s National Space Weather Monitoring Center. The flare, classified as M8.1, was accompanied by a coronal mass ejection directly facing Earth, increasing the chance of geomagnetic disturbances. While these storms can disrupt satellites and GPS systems, they pose no health risk to humans. Pigeon racers are advised not to release birds during such events. The flare is part of heightened solar activity in Solar Cycle 25, which began in 2019 and is now peaking in 2024–2025.
