Gaza’s second-largest hospital ‘completely out of service,’ health ministry says
The Nasser Hospital in Gaza’s southern city of Khan Younis is no longer operational due to Israeli raids and fuel shortages. The hospital, Gaza’s second-largest, is struggling with power outages, lack of water supply, sewage flooding, and insufficient staff. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has severely impacted healthcare infrastructure in Gaza, with most medical facilities rendered inoperative. The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on Israel to grant access to its staff for assessing patient conditions and providing assistance, emphasizing the protected status of hospitals under international law. The Israeli military has stated its operations in Nasser involve searching for militants and has reported arrests, killings, and the discovery of weapons in the vicinity of the hospital.
