The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2026, held from March 24 to 27 in Hainan, marks the forum’s 25th anniversary and comes at a time of rising global uncertainty. Under the theme “Shaping a Shared Future,” the event highlights Asia’s role in promoting cooperation and stability amid geopolitical tensions.
Reports released at the forum show Asia remains a key driver of global growth, with GDP projected to expand by 4.5% in 2026 and its share of the global economy continuing to rise. Regional integration is also strengthening, supported by agreements like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which has boosted trade and supply chain resilience. China continues to play a major role through opening-up policies and initiatives like the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which has funded large-scale infrastructure projects.
At the same time, Asia faces challenges including climate change, geopolitical risks, aging populations, and uneven development. The reports stress that sustained growth will depend on regional cooperation, multilateral frameworks, and progress in green energy and digital innovation, helping Asia remain a stabilizing force in the global economy.
