French President Emmanuel Macron to visit China

French President Emmanuel Macron will make a state visit to China from December 3 to 5 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, China’s Foreign Ministry announced on Monday. This will be Macron’s fourth state visit to China and serves as a reciprocal gesture following Xi’s visit to France last year during the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

During the trip, Xi and Macron will hold talks to guide the future development of China-France relations and exchange views on key international and regional issues. Macron will also meet Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee.

China highlighted France’s role as the first major Western nation to establish diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic and praised the long-standing, strategic nature of the relationship. The Foreign Ministry noted that recent years have seen active high-level exchanges, strengthened cooperation, and effective coordination in multilateral forums.

Beijing said it hopes the visit will help deepen strategic dialogue, expand practical cooperation, and enhance multilateral coordination, contributing to stable China-France ties, healthier China-EU relations, and broader global peace and stability.
