The flame for the 2025 Asian Winter Games was lit at Sun Island Scenic Area in Harbin, China, on Monday, ahead of the Opening Ceremony on February 7. Despite temperatures of minus-16°C, the torch was ignited using a convex lens, symbolizing the fusion of ice and fire and the passion of winter sports.
The torch, themed “Surging,” represents vitality, enthusiasm, and Asian athletic friendships. The relay will continue until February 6, including an online component.
Harbin will host the Games from February 7-14, featuring 1,275 athletes from 34 nations competing in six sports, 11 disciplines, and 64 events. Debutants Cambodia and Saudi Arabia will participate, with host China fielding over 170 athletes.
