Five years of GDI: How BRICS is turning global development commitments into practice

The BRICS-backed New Development Bank has approved $205 million to improve water infrastructure in South Africa, aiming to provide reliable clean drinking water to around two million people facing severe shortages.

The project is part of broader development efforts linked to China’s Global Development Initiative, which supports infrastructure and sustainable development in countries around the world. Since its founding, the New Development Bank has funded projects in areas such as clean energy, water, transportation and healthcare, helping BRICS countries improve living conditions and support long-term economic growth.
