Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13, marking 20 years of BRICS cooperation. Xi said BRICS has grown into an influential platform for emerging and developing countries and is entering a new stage of deeper, higher-quality cooperation.
Xi called on BRICS countries to become “four pioneers” in innovation-driven development, peace and stability, cultural understanding and global governance. These priorities are closely linked to China’s four major global initiatives on development, security, civilization and governance.
To strengthen practical cooperation, Xi also proposed five initiatives focused on open and inclusive AI, trade and investment, digital industries, intelligent manufacturing, and science and technology talent. Experts said these proposals aim to turn broader development goals into concrete cooperation and give BRICS countries more opportunities for economic and technological development.
