European leaders will join Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in Washington on Monday to meet U.S. President Trump, seeking strong security guarantees as Trump pushes for a quick peace deal with Russia.
The meeting comes after Trump’s Alaska talks with Putin and may include U.S. “Article 5-like” protection for Ukraine instead of NATO membership. Zelenskyy also met EU officials in Brussels, where support for EU membership and new sanctions on Russia were reaffirmed.
European leaders aim to bolster Zelenskyy’s position and explore a possible trilateral summit with Trump and Putin.
