Europe pushes for Ukraine role in Trump-Putin talks

A U.S. official has stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may be included in the upcoming negotiations between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders are scheduled to meet in Alaska to discuss a resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

European leaders have been advocating for Ukraine’s inclusion in these talks, insisting that any peace deal must involve Kyiv and the European Union. They believe that a solution to the war cannot be decided without Ukraine’s direct participation. In a show of solidarity, EU foreign ministers, joined by their Ukrainian counterpart, are holding a meeting to discuss the matter.

U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker confirmed that Zelenskyy’s attendance is “certainly possible” but that the final decision rests with President Trump. There has been no official word from the White House regarding an invitation to the Ukrainian President.
