European countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine, while Russia says Europe’s involvement will not help resolve the conflict. During a visit to the Netherlands, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine will hold further talks with the United States on a plan to end the war, following progress in discussions with European partners.
The UK and Germany announced new military aid, including air defense systems, interceptor drones, and missiles. The European Commission also plans to raise funds through bonds to provide long-term financial support and loans to Ukraine.
Russia dismissed Europe’s role in mediation and said it would not accept territorial concessions, Western troops in Ukraine, or negotiations over Crimea and Donbas. Ukraine has called for a Christmas ceasefire, but Russia said it is unlikely to agree. China reiterated its neutral stance, calling for a ceasefire, dialogue, and a political solution.
