On the 80th anniversary of the Tokyo Trials, China said the tribunal’s lessons remain relevant as tensions with Japan grow. Chinese officials accused Japan of failing to fully confront its wartime history, pointing to issues like visits to Yasukuni Shrine, textbook controversies, military expansion, and debates over revising Japan’s pacifist constitution. China also criticized Japan’s stance on Taiwan, calling it interference in China’s internal affairs and warning that Japan’s growing militarization could threaten regional stability and strain China-Japan relations further.
