The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has surpassed 1,000 confirmed cases, with health authorities reporting 1,003 infections and 254 deaths as of June 21.
The outbreak has a case fatality rate of 25.3%. Currently, 365 patients are in isolation or receiving treatment, while 100 people have recovered.
Health officials said response efforts remain ongoing, including enhanced surveillance, community awareness campaigns and improvements in testing and patient care, although contact tracing in the affected provinces remains a challenge.
