North Korea has demanded that South Korea provide a “detailed explanation” regarding a drone that entered DPRK airspace on January 4, according to KCNA. Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Workers’ Party, said the drone collected video of sensitive sites, including a uranium mine, the former Kaesong Industrial Zone, and border guard posts. She criticized attempts to label the incident as a civilian matter and held South Korea responsible for the breach.
South Korea’s Defense Ministry denied any involvement, stating that no military drones were operating on the relevant dates and that the drone does not match any models used by the ROK armed forces. President Lee Jae Myung has ordered an investigation to verify the details.
