The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) reportedly dropped around 15 tonnes of garbage into South Korea between May 28 and June 2, according to the DPRK’s Vice Defense Minister Kim Kang Il, as reported by KCNA. The DPRK has decided to temporarily halt sending balloons carrying trash into South Korea but warned it would resume if South Korea continues sending anti-DPRK leaflets into the North. This statement from Pyongyang followed South Korea’s vow to take severe measures against the DPRK, with officials considering resuming loudspeaker propaganda broadcasts across the border.
