North Korea has detained three shipyard officials following a major accident during the launch of a newly built 5,000-ton warship, according to state media KCNA. Leader Kim Jong Un called the incident a “criminal act” that harmed the country’s dignity and emphasized that the destroyer’s restoration is a political priority tied to state authority. Those arrested include the chief engineer, the head of the hull construction workshop, and a deputy manager at the Chongjin Shipyard. An investigation into the failed launch is ongoing.
