Deal reached for Gaza to receive medicines as fighting surges

Qatar successfully mediated an agreement between Israel and Hamas for the delivery of vital prescription drugs to Gaza. Israel confirmed that medications purchased in France would also reach hostages held by Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza, including elderly individuals. Two Qatari Air Force planes are set to depart to Egypt with the medicines, which will then be transferred into Gaza. Ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in a Palestinian death toll of 24,285. Meanwhile, combat has surged in northern Gaza, with Israeli forces reentering areas and clashes reported. The Houthi group struck a freighter in the Red Sea in protest against Israel’s blockade, and tensions have risen in the Red Sea following U.S.-led air strikes on Houthi targets. In southern Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes have caused casualties amid increased border tension since October.
