A dangerous heatwave is spreading across more than 30 US states, affecting around 160 million people and raising the risk of record-high temperatures during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The heat dome is trapping hot, humid air, making conditions more dangerous and harder for the body to cool down. Cities like New York, Washington DC, Boston, and Philadelphia are opening cooling centers, changing public events, and expanding emergency services to protect people. In some areas, temperatures may exceed 100°F (38°C), while western states are also facing wildfire risks due to dry and windy conditions.
